I just completed basic obedience with my two dogs, Tegwen and Kirby, who were frankly out of control. I had no control over either one of them and was getting very frustrated. Tegwen is a 1 ½ y/o German Shepherd and Kirby is a 7 mo Jack Russell mix I adopted from the shelter as a companion for Tegwen.
I thought by providing a play mate for Tegwen I was helping our situation. You see I had just gone back to work full time after 4 mo off on maternity leave. Tegwen was becoming lonely, destructive and aggressive toward the other animals. She had had some training at a local pet store as a puppy but seemed to have forgotten EVERYTHING overnight!!! However adding another dog to the mix was becoming more than I could handle. They fell in love and played great but I now had TWO dogs who wouldn’t listen to a word I said!!! I had no idea how to get their attention and control over them. When we started the classes it was a last resort!! I didn’t want to get rid of my pets (I believe they are a lifetime commitment) but I was at my wits end.
One day a friend gave me Glenn’s card and told me I had to call him. From the start he took the time to talk to me, listen to my unique situation and apply his techniques to us. I ended up bringing both dogs to the class. Glenn’s sons even came to help hold the dogs while I worked with the other.
At first I saw a quick improvement in Kirby but Tegwen was still resistant. Glenn wouldn’t let me give up so I pressed on and one day it just seemed to click. I have to admit it was hard to drag myself out and work with them on some evenings, but with the time and effort they soon were responding and listening.
I seemed to form a better bond with both of them. They would now look at me (attention), come when I called, sit, lie down, and stay. Glenn even added a few extra things like stand, and leave it (which helps when they try to lick the baby too much) They are still young and full of energy, and I know I will need to continue to train and remind them of what we have all learned, however we are all much happier and I owe it to Glenn. He is patient and knowledgeable and truly cares about the dogs, their parents and the relationship between them. Anyone who wants a fun and kind way to train your companion will benefit from Alpha K9. Thank you Glenn for all your help. God Bless!!!

Dear Dog Owners:
I am writing this letter to tell you about Glenn Farris, Alpha K9 Training and my dog Minnie, a black Labrador retriever. I met Glenn and went to our first Alpha K9 class when Minnie was 6 months old. She had had no training and she was a "hand full."
My experience with Glenn and his training methods was tremendous. Minnie learned to recognize her name and give me eye contact, she learned to sit and lie down and she learned to stay while I walked a big circle around her. We also worked on heeling and rolling over.
Glenn was always on time, prepared and very "upbeat." Each week we were given handouts to take home to read and specific "homework" assignments. Minnie progressed at a rapid pace. Although to this day she is still a "hand full." But we love her and continue to practice Glenn’s techniques.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Alpha K9 Training and would recommend Glenn Farris to anyone looking to become a responsible dog owner.
Sincerely,
Jim Priest

Pepper and I just completed Alpha K9 Training’s Basic Obedience Class and it was a very positive learning experience! After quitting an obedience class at a pet store when Pepper was 6 months old, I was very discouraged and unsure about trying another class. I decided to try Alpha K9 Training because Glenn was quick to respond to my email and his website specifically stated that it dealt with Pepper’s two main problems, jumping on visitors and pulling me when she’s on her leash.
Throughout the course, Glenn was incredibly encouraging and helpful. The one on one attention is just what Pepper and I needed! Glenn backs up all of his methods with paperwork that is informative and a great reminder as to why training is so important. Most importantly though, I learned that I need to be consistent and practice with Pepper every day.
After 6 weeks, Pepper learned attention, sit, down, stay, stand, heel, and come. On top of that, Glenn introduced us other commands such as leave it and roll over as well. Although we had to drive 45 minutes to go to class, I feel it was well worth it because I am optimistic and excited for the future with Pepper. A million thanks for all the hard work and kind words to Glenn and Alpha K9 Training and we look forward to taking another course in the future!

Hi my name is Sklyer, I am an Australian Shepard who adopted my owner/parent Rebeca Wood in September 2008. We didn't know to much about each other, and with her love for me, she thought it best that we search for a obedience school so that we could become a great team. She talked with a young guy at the Pet Fair pet supply store in Porterville one day, he gave her a flyer that had the perfect words she was looking for ALPHA K9 TRAINING. She went home looked up the web sight and told me she found the perfect school for us, as the instructor had many years of experience and training to help guide us on our way. So there started our new life together as we traveled from Springville every Saturday for six weeks to our classes that I truely loved going to.
I was so amazed at how fun it was to learn all the new things I didn't know, and for the things I kind of knew, they got reninforced and I can do them better. Rebeca was amazed at how much she learned as well, to work with me.
I have learned so many things in Glenn's class, and would like to share some of them. Sit stay, lay down and stay were pretty important. I now have the patience to sit stay while watching Rebeca go across and down the road to get the paper and mail, while I stay at the edge of the property. Then the best thing is on her return I get a reward by a hug or a treat. That is what is go great about ALPHA K9 TRAINING is the possitive rewards while learning the lessons.
In going to class we learned hand signals with voice commands and Rebeca loves that I could catch on. The one great thing I learned was LEAVE IT !!!! That was a very important lesson and we use it quite a bit and it keeps me out of trouble or harms way.
We recieved lots of valuable reading each week that was very interesting for Rebeca to use with me, and oh my gosh lots of homework for us to do together to reinforce the lessons from the previous week(s) and the new ones that we learn. I did show Rebeca that I could slip up if she didn't keep up the good work, of working with me. She would consult with Glenn our teacher on things she couldn't get to work out right, and he gave her great advise that she tried on me and I am here to tell you it was a success. The TIN MAN is the one where she stands arms folded and turns her back to me when I get all jumpy and forget about not jumping up on her, and the word off didn't do the trick. Or when we are playing frisbee and I snatch the frisbee out of her hand before she throws it. So when the Tin Man shows up, I stop and walk around to see her face and then we try it all over again and all is good.
We learned so many wonderful skills in Glenn's class, and look forward to going to the next level that reinforces what we learned by being around different places, and people. This will be a very interesting class, then if something comes up, or confusion happens, we have Glenn to help us learn how to get through the tough spots.
A happy dog is one who learns with positive reinforcement, and I am happy, and willing to learn. Sklyer

These students and so many others who come to Alpha K9 Training are wanting more than just obedience training. They are serious dog owners who believe that their dogs are part of their family, and they are right. This is the reason we give out important information about training and homework at the end of every class, I think these clients agree that it was beneficial to the training.
I am sure you will enjoy our classes and know that you will have a great time. So many students tell me they can't wait for the next class to show the progress they have made.

Nevada,my dog, and I have recently completed the Basic Obedience Class through Alpha K9 Training. It was a very rewarding experience. I have taken other training classes through the years and this was by far the best. Glenn was very patient and was always offering tips to get the results that we wanted. If you want to have a well trained pet, call Alpha K9 Training. You will not be disappointed.
